Heidi Munger Sung is a contemporary realist painter who splits her time between suburban Maryland and rural Northern Michigan. She favors landscapes and objects from the natural world and often chooses scenes for their slightly off-kilter perspectives and tonal palette. Heidi began painting at the age of 50 having never touched a canvas or brush. She was inspired by her father’s father and her mother’s mother, both of whom taught themselves to paint in the second halves of their lives. They were both fearless and unapologetic about trying new things and taught her, by example, to do the same. She studies at The Compass Atelier in Rockville Maryland and is a member of the Montgomery Art Association in Maryland and Crooked Tree Arts Center in Michigan.
